THEORY:

 

Monsters, Inc. is a movie that makes an argument: Our society runs on fear, but it could run not only more justly, but more productively, on joy.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Watch the first video of a short movie someone made based on a lecture I once gave at an economics conference.

2. Watch the second video of the actual lecture.

​

3. In a 500 word reflection, reconstruct the argument as you understand it that a) Monsters, Inc. is a metaphor for our world insofar as it is run on fear; b) Monsters, Inc. offers us a solution: a society based on joy. Do you agree? Why or why not?
